Saturday was definitely a special day! It was the day we got
ready for our trip on Monday. It was
raining again, It’s supposed to rain every day for a week. Gross. And
In León supposedly it’s going to be like 40 degrees (F). Soooo… I have some preparations to make
because I tried to bring as few clothes as I possibly could. We woke up to the cloudy misty morning in our
tiny little room around 11 and decided to get ready for the day around 12:30. :) Spain is great because everyone
sleeps in here. They’re all really good
at partying so we don’t look bad walking in at midnight or sleeping in til 11. Raquel left tonight at 11:15 for the
night. Guaranteed she won’t be back
anytime soon. Ha Anyways. Katie and I walked around our neighborhood
looking for anything we needed so we went back to that dollar store and found
her some nail polish remover. And guess who
was there waiting for us! That old man that walked me home the first day I got
here. So we chatted with him for a bit,
but we acted as if we were in a rush… and It’s not just me! That man is a
mumbler! Katie also had issues understanding him. Ha I love having her around! She’s so good at
communicating! Both of us together makes 1 really good Spaniard woman.
So we walked out of there and headed to a Churrería, but it
was closed for Siesta time. So we went
up the road to a pandaería and got ourselves an apple pie looking muffin and
then a chocolate sprinkled looking muffin/cupcake. We saved them for when we got home. We ate the apple one first, it was a lemon
cupcake basically and dried apple on top. The chocolate one was like a chocolate mousse,
we saved that one for after almuerzo. We
started Finding Nemo again in Spanish and almost finished. Then it was time for Lunch. We went down to a hearty meal of soup with boiled
eggs and crab meat in it, fried pork, pan, and then an orange for dessert. Super great.
Then we went to the mall to buy rain jackets for the week long trip and
maybe some pants. We planned on meeting
up with Jordan and Noelle but never found them. So we wandered the entire mall looking for a coat
for me and Katie. I found one finally at
a store called New Yorker… typical that I would buy a coat that is from an
American store. My taste hasn’t changed
that dramatically. So then we decided to
walk to the Carrefour which is basically a Spanish Walmart. We bought me some champú and conditioner and
looked for a jacket… nothing! After that we were heading home and ran into the
girls!! Miraculous how small this city is! ha So we all went to McDonald’s to
go use the internet and find out if anyone was doing anything. We realized that everyone was already at the
movie theater hanging out at the other mall, so we planned our own rainy day
activities. We went and got Tapas… These
ones were AWESOME! There were BBQ wings, a baguette type of meal, and then
fried meat with potatoes and cheese. Super
Delish. So After that we pulled out
Phase 10 and played cards in the bar… that is until we got kicked out. Ha oops.
So we moved to McDonald’s again trying to see if anyone was in our
vicinity. So we played a few more hands
of phase 10 until a security guard came in and told us we’re not allowed to
play cards in restaurants. Stupid. We went to an heladería and got ice cream and
after that headed home for some dinner. Apparently all we do here is eat… and
walk… It’s great. It’s a perfect life! :)
For dinner we had fried meat with cheese, a delicious salad,
and a potato and noodle salad prepared by Raquel. There was a side of shrimp as well. With their heads and legs and everything
still on them! They couldn’t believe that we have all our shrimp come without the
head. So funny. Then we watched Letters To Juliet because it
was on TV. We all watched it in the “Salón”
and then headed up to bed. Time flies
here. I never realize how late it really
is until I check my watch. It’s crazy!!
But that’s a very good sign in my opinion.
From the best panaderia man alive! He loves us. He gives us an extra roll whenever we stop by. Benefits of being misfits in a country!
